When two of the watch world’s most unexpected names come together, questions naturally follow. This year, all eyes are on Audemars Piguet and Swatch, whose new Royal Pop collection has already sparked rumors, speculation, and anticipation ahead of launch.

But there’s one detail many have overlooked: Royal Pop was never designed as a traditional wristwatch. That's why we're building a dedicated lineup of Royal Pop straps, engineered around the watch's exact proportions.

From Pocket Watch To Everyday Wear

The Royal Pop is shaping up to be one of the most unexpected watch releases of the year. The collection features eight bold designs inspired by the iconic Royal Oak aesthetic, but presented in a format that leans more toward pocket watches than conventional sports watches.

Out of the box, Royal Pop comes with a calfskin lanyard designed for wearing around the neck, carrying in a pocket, or attaching to a bag. What it doesn’t include is a dedicated wrist solution. That’s where third-party alternatives become interesting.

Many collectors will likely want to wear their Royal Pop as an everyday watch rather than keeping it as a display piece or occasional accessory. We are therefore developing dedicated straps engineered specifically around the watch’s unique proportions and case design.

A Dedicated Strap For Every Model In The Collection

We will develop individual strap options are currently being developed for all eight Royal

Pop references:

  • Otto Rosso: Deep red tones naturally pair well with dark leather or textured finishes for a more classic look.
  • Huit Blanc: The lighter model could work particularly well with grey tones or contrasting white stitching.
  • Green Eight: Green colorways and rubber straps have historically been a strong combination for a more sporty appearance.
  • Blaue Acht: Dark blue tones offer flexibility and work equally well with navy or black strap options.
  • Làn Ba: More experimental colors open possibilities for tone-on-tone combinations or bolder contrasts.
  • OTG Roz: Pink shades may become surprisingly versatile when paired with neutral strap colors.
  • Ocho Negro: The black model offers maximum flexibility and works with almost anything.
  • Orenji Hachi: Orange accents often pair best with darker straps that allow the watch itself to remain the focal point.

Why Straps Could Be Essential For Royal Pop

Historically, unconventional watch designs have often found a second life through alternative ways of being worn. The same may apply here.

Without a wrist option, Royal Pop risks becoming a collector’s piece that spends more time in storage than in use.

The right strap changes that completely.

A dedicated strap transforms how, and how often, the watch is actually worn.

Want To Wear Your Royal Pop On The Wrist From Day One?

We are currently developing dedicated straps for the entire Royal Pop collection, specifically designed to complement the watches’ unique case geometry and bold aesthetic. By signing up now, you’ll be among the first to know when each model goes live, before the first batches risk selling out.

For many collectors, the Royal Pop could become one of the most talked-about releases of the year. The only question is whether it stays in your pocket, hangs around your neck, or earns a place on your wrist.

When Will The Royal Pop Straps Launch?

Development is already underway, with dedicated solutions being created for every Royal Pop model. Pricing will be confirmed closer to launch, and collectors can register their interest now to receive notifications the moment each strap becomes available.

One thing already seems clear: if AP x Swatch becomes one of the year’s most discussed releases, the ability to actually wear the watch on your wrist may prove just as important as the watch itself.

Hi Wristbuddys Team,

I’m reaching out from India regarding watch strap designs for the newly launched Royal Pop. Due to time constraints, a limited budget, and limited design experience, I’m looking to source an existing design rather than create one from scratch.

I’d love to know more about your available designs, pricing options, and if possible, details about your manufacturer.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,
