This year, IWC turns the spotlight toward the Ingenieur – a cult classic beloved by design-focused collectors. At Watches and Wonders 2025, the collection expands with several exciting new releases, including a striking all-black ceramic version that stands out for its bold, modern aesthetic.

Ingenieur Automatic 42 – Black Ceramic

Of all the 2025 Ingenieur releases, the all-black ceramic model might just be the boldest. Reference IW338903 marks the first time IWC has introduced the current-generation Ingenieur in full ceramic – and it does not disappoint. The 42 mm case and integrated bracelet are made entirely from zirconium oxide, giving the watch its stealthy, matte finish and surprising lightness on the wrist.

Despite its muscular presence, the watch wears comfortably thanks to the material's low weight. And from a design standpoint, it's a masterclass in modern minimalism: no unnecessary polish, just raw form and function.

Inside, IWC has fitted its reliable in-house calibre 82110 with the Pellaton winding system – a technical detail that quietly reinforces the Ingenieur's tool-watch roots. The winding mechanism even uses ceramic components to reduce wear. Flip it over, and the tinted sapphire caseback reveals a black-coated movement with gold accents – a detail that feels just as considered as the rest of the watch.

Ingenieur Automatic 40 – 5N Gold

The Ingenieur has always walked the line between tool watch and refined statement piece – and in this 2025 full gold version, it confidently leans toward the latter. Reference IW328702 is crafted from 5N gold, a warmer, red-toned alloy rich in copper content.

The case measures 40 mm in diameter and 10.4 mm thick – dimensions that feel assertive yet refined, offering presence without bulk. The black dial provides just the right contrast against the warmth of the gold, resulting in a look that’s equal parts sporty and sophisticated.

Inside ticks the automatic calibre 32111, delivering an impressive 120-hour power reserve. Flip the watch over and you're treated to an open caseback that reveals the movement – complete with a gold-toned rotor that feels right at home in this quietly luxurious package.

Ingenieur Automatic 40 – Green Dial

There are green dials – and then there’s this. IWC’s latest take on the Ingenieur Automatic 40 features a deep, textured green dial accented by rose gold indexes. The result is a color combination that feels both vintage-inspired and refreshingly modern.

The stainless steel case measures 40 mm and shares the same clean proportions as its siblings. But where the gold version leans into elegance, this green edition brings a more playful and personal touch.

Produced in a limited run of 1,000 pieces, it features a closed caseback engraved with the individual number – a subtle nod to its exclusivity.

Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar 41

It’s not every day you see a perpetual calendar inside an Ingenieur – but this year, IWC changes that. For the first time, the brand introduces a version of the Ingenieur equipped with a full calendar complication: date, day, month, leap year, and moon phase – all powered by the automatic calibre 82600.

The case measures 41.6 mm in diameter and 13.4 mm in thickness, offering a solid wrist presence without feeling overbuilt. It’s also water-resistant to 100 meters – a reminder that this is a watch made to be worn, not just admired.

The blue dial adds a sense of depth and elegance, while Super-LumiNova-filled hands ensure visibility in low light. Despite its mechanical complexity, the overall impression is one of balance and usability – a rare and compelling mix.

Ingenieur Automatic 35

Not everyone wants a large sports watch – and IWC knows it. With the new Ingenieur Automatic 35, the brand introduces a slimmer, more versatile take on its iconic design, without compromising the watch’s core identity. The case measures 35 mm in diameter and just 9.4 mm in thickness – ideal for those who prefer a more refined wrist presence with plenty of character.

The lineup includes three models: one in full gold with a matching dial, and two in stainless steel – one with a black dial and one in silver-white. All three retain the integrated bracelet and Gérald Genta’s signature design cues, but present them in a more compact and wearable format.

It’s a launch that proves the Ingenieur isn’t just for the tech-minded – it’s also for those who appreciate clean design and balanced proportions.

Conclusion

With this year’s releases, IWC reaffirms the Ingenieur’s place as one of the most distinctive integrated-bracelet sports watches on the market. From compact new formats and precious metals to bold materials like black ceramic – the 2025 lineup proves that the Ingenieur can be many things without losing its soul.

Whether you’re drawn to the technical depth of the Perpetual Calendar or the everyday versatility of the new 35 mm models, there’s a clear message: the Ingenieur is back, and it’s more relevant than ever.
