What Is Lug Width on a Watch?
Lug width is the distance between the two lugs on your watch case, measured in millimeters. The lugs are the small protruding pieces on either side of the case that hold your strap in place. The distance between them is your lug width, and it's the one number you need to find the right watch strap.
Get it right and your strap fits perfectly. Get it wrong and it simply won't fit.
The most common lug widths are 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm, but they can range from 16mm all the way up to 26mm depending on your watch.

How to Find Your Lug Width
There are two easy ways to find out your lug width:
Option 1: Look It Up (Fastest)
Search Google for your watch brand and model followed by "lug width", for example:
- "Rolex Submariner 116610 lug width"
- "Omega Speedmaster 310.30.42.50.01.001 lug width"
- "Tudor Black Bay 58 79030 lug width"
You'll find the answer in seconds from the manufacturer's website or a watch community forum.
Option 2: Measure It Yourself
Grab a ruler or digital caliper and measure the gap between the inner edges of the two lugs where your strap attaches. That measurement in millimeters is your lug width.
Pro tip: Always measure from the inner edges, not the outer edges. If you're between sizes, both will work. Going smaller means pressing the strap in a little and it'll sit tight and look great. Going larger and it slips in easily with a tiny bit of extra room.
